Yesterday, torrential rains fell in Buonconvento and in the bordering area of Monteroni d’Arbia, causing a lot of damage and flooding some of the rivers. In the photo below, you can see the Ombrone River in Buonconvento, which flooded into some fields very close to the main road and is threatening the railway bridge running over it.
Here in S.Angelo, fortunately, we did not have any rain, as you can see below. The grapes are ripening well thanks to the good weather, with high temperatures of 86 to 90°F (30-32°C) during the day and lows in the 60s (15°C) at night. At the moment, we are cutting some of the leaves around the grape bunches; in this way the grapes can ripen well and avoid too much moisture as increased exposure to wind dries them out. Hopefully good conditions will continue into harvest!
