Sant’Angelo in Colle

Our village of Sant’Angelo in Colle (above) is located in the southwestern subzone of the Brunello di Montalcino and Rosso di Montalcino appellation in what is the highest growing area at 400+ meters above sea level. Elevation is very important for growing and ripening Sangiovese grapes because the vines and the fruit need cool air in the warm summer months in order to ripen fully. In Sant’Angelo, we are also close enough to the Thyrennian sea that the sea breeze helps to ventilate our vineyards, thus reducing mildew and rot. These two elements help to create wines with fresh flavors and aromas and wines with superior aging potential.
