Harvest Report 2011: The hoeing to increase humidity

In the new vineyard that we have planted this year we remove the grass around the vines by utilizing the hoe and we replace some fine earth around the vines to maintain the humidity.

It should be considered that this year from January until 14 May only 100 millimeters of rainwater has fallen as opposed to 200 millimeters that normally has rained in the previous years. But a week ago Sunday in the afternoon, in 5 hours, roughly 50 millimeters of rain fell which served to regive turgor to the vines, olive trees, and cereals that had not only felt the heat but also the north wine that had blown for many days and had dried the earth.
