Grubbing Up Cabernet Sauvignon and Franc: A piece of history has gone away

We have begun to cut the vines of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc planted in 1964 in the Ferralino vineyard. For years, these grapes served to make the blend of the San Leopoldo wine.

Because we no longer make this wine, we have decided to grub up the vineyard and plant Sangiovese in its place, which will enjoy the altitude, exposure, and subsoil of this location.
