Weather Update: Temperature Jumps in Montalcino

Photo olives

Yesterday afternoon it rained, but just 4 millimetres. During the night the temperature went down to 12°C and this morning at 7 it was 14°C. The weather seasonal trend is anomalous and these jumps in temperatures are not good for the vines and olive trees or for the people.

After an abundant flowering caused by high temperatures, wind, and rain, the olive trees did not provide the results we were expecting; the number of olives after the fruit set is lower than expected (see photo). 2015 is a productive vintage but not abundant.
