Colder Weather In Montalcino But Talk Of Scirocco Raises Concerns

A note from the Tenuta Il Poggione winemaker, Fabrizio Bindocci:

Once again the forecasts for bad weather that were to affect our zone have come true.

Yesterday, we have had a day of sun, with minimum temperatures of 0° C. and maximums of 7° C. and this morning, when we left our homes, the sky was clear and the sun was shining.

In the course of the morning, clouds covered the sky and it began to snow on Mt. Amiata.

As I have said, a drop of temperatures below 0° C. would be important. But there is talk that already tomorrow a scirocco wind will arrive and with a consequent increase of temperatures.

We hope, instead, that the much needed cold will arrive.

In the meantime, we continue to prune the vines in the vineyards.
