We've been busy at work in the old Paganelli Vineyard, where we grow grapes for our Brunello di Montalcino Riserva. A small number of vines had to be eradicated, but since we are so attached to this vineyard, we decided to transplant 50 year old vines to replace the lost ones. We used the excavator so we'd have plenty of earth around the roots when we did it.
We also gave 50 liters of water to each vine so there would be enough humidity to maintain them, although the most in tact roots of the vine should be self-sufficient. In a few days we will be sure whether or not the transplant went well.
