“Rich and full, this is not a delicate flower but rather an assertive gem” – The Drunken Cyclist

“2016 Il Poggione Brancato Rosato Montalcino: Retail $18. 100% Sangiovese. True Rosé. So this is my kind of rosé (OK, I say that concerning just about every rosé)—it is not a blend, it is a “true” rosé, and it is delicious. Rich and full, this is not a delicate flower but rather an assertive gem. Sure, it is a lovely strawberry pink in the glass, but it has plenty of verve and spunk. Not as tart as some rosés on the market, but those other rosés don’t share this wine’s heft. Honestly? I would not drink this on its own. Introducing Brunello di Montalcino 2010!

A new year, a new vintage of our Brunello di Montalcino! It’s 2015 and it’s time for the 2010 Brunello, a five star vintage that is highly anticipated by Brunello lovers all over the world. The year 2010 saw a delay in the budding due to below average spring temperatures and frequent rainfalls. Summer was marked by a stable climate with good weather conditions and minimal rain during the month of August that mitigated the heat and allowed for a recovery of the phenological cycle. Our 2010 Brunello has a classy, calibrated and complex nose and a full body with soft tannins perfectly integrated with the acidity, showing the wine’s great aging potential. It has already received its first great rating, 93 points from James Suckling. Read the full review... Read more >
