Last weekend at “Benvenuto Brunello”,a traditional event for press, restaurants, wine shops and wine lovers, the new vintages of Montalcino wines were presented.

This year represents the 50th anniversary of the Brunello appellation and the 2016 vintage has been awarded with 5 stars. Read more and watch a video of the event.

Suckling deems 2012 a “Rockstar Vintage”

James Suckling’s recently released 2012 Brunello di Montalcino report lauds the region’s “beautiful aromas, vibrant fruit, lively acidity, and ultra-fine tannins.”  He compares 2012 to the legendary 2010, though believes its closest match are the “2004s, a harmonious and gorgeous year for Brunellos.” Suckling’s report includes a stunning review for Il Poggione, awarding our Brunello a 93 pt score with the following tasting notes: “Walnuts and cedar with plums and hints of milk chocolate. Always subtle. Medium body, a solid core of fruit and medium-chewy tannins. Center palate of cherry fruit. 2010 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva “Vigna Paganelli” … One of the best wines in Italy

At the Best Italian Wine Award last week, our 2010 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva “Vigna Paganelli” was awarded n.34 of the 50 best Italian wines of 2016!  Luca Gardini (in the photo with Fabrizio Bindocci), World Best Sommelier in 2010, as well as a jury that includes Tim Atkin MW and Christy Canterbury MW as well as the Italian wine crtitic Daniele Cernilli, tasted many different Italian wines before selecting the top 50. Il Poggione Featured at Vinous Media Event

  This September, Antonio Galloni presented “2010 Brunello di Montalcino: A Promise Fulfilled,” a Vinous Media event at Lincoln Ristorante in New York. Featuring the most highly regarded Brunellos in an excellent vintage, the tasting included food pairings along with four flights of 2010 Brunellos. Il Poggione’s Brunello di Montalcino quickly became a highlight of the evening, receiving rave reviews from Galloni.     Galloni lauds standout star Il Poggione for its incredible value: “Il Poggione’s 2010 Brunello di Montalcino is the single best value in top-flight Brunello di Montalcino.
