Harvest Celebration 2016

Yesterday, we celebrated the Benfinita della vendemmia, a traditional ceremony to mark the end of the harvest.

As we have done in past years, we organized a lunch with all the Il Poggione workers and employees in the cellar.

We toasted with our Rosè and started a long lunch prepared by some of our workers, including a bruschetta made with the newly pressed olive oil and  delicious spit-roasted chickens.

Our proprietor Leopoldo Franceschi gave a gold medal to our employees who have worked with us for 20 years, to thank them for their continuous support and dedication. This year’s recipients were Elisabetta Vincelli, qho works both in the cellar preparing orders and shipments and in the vineyards, and Simone Simi, our mechanic.

Unlike most wineries, all of our workers are employed throughout the full year; we do not hire temporary workers during harvest.  This commitment ensures that we have many workers who remain with Il Poggione for decades and contribute their invaluable experience to the work in the vineyards and winery.

It is our privilege to celebrate them and another harvest- Saluti!
