Olives Continue to Grow in Montalcino

In the past few days, a strong wind from the north, Tramontana, has been blowing (see video). It has brought low temperatures which, at night, are around 12°C. For the whole upcoming week, sunny weather is in the forecast with an increase in temperatures. The wind helps to dry the soil from the water accumulated with the last rains. The disadvantage is that, during this vegetative stage of the vines, it can help the development of a fungine disease called Oidium. Therefore, farmers have to be careful in managing the work in the vineyards. The vines are continuing their development and we are pruning the top of the vines for the second time .

The olives, thanks to the water accumulated in the soil, are growing (see photo).
