Castiglione della Pescaia

Castiglione

The weather is hot but it won't be a while for that we begin the harvest of our grapes and so it is now that we can take our summer vacation. I travel all the time for work but when it comes time for the vacations of summer I drive about 30 minutes to the west to Castiglione della Pescaia on the Tuscan coast line, the Maremma. It is part of what is so interesting about our terroir because we are so close to the sea. It is also a good place for me to vacation because I can return home very quickly (even though I can monitor the wine in the cellar using my laptop and can even make adjustments to the temperatures and monitor the levels of the vats while the wine is aging).

The beaches of the Medieval "castello" or "castle" of Castiglione (which is meaning the "big castle) are some of the most beautiful in Italy and this is where almost all of the young people of my village go for their summer vacations. See you on the beach!

Here's an informative site about Castiglione: http://www.castiglionepescaia.it/indexeng.htm

Buone vacanze! Happy vacations!
