Tomorrow we will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Consorzio del Brunello. In 1967, 25 young producers, including Leopoldo Franceschi, owner of Il Poggione at the time, gathered and founded the Consorzio del Vino Brunello di Montalcino with the intent of protecting and promoting the appellation.
The celebrations will take place tomorrow, April 28, and Saturday April 29. Tomorrow we will kick off with a conference, hosted by Luciano Ferraro, a journalist from Corriere della Sera, one of Italy’s leading newspapers. He will be talking about 50 years of history for the Consorzio. During the conference the founding members will be commemorated and awarded. Then, tomorrow night, a gala dinner will be held in the beautiful medieval Fortress of Montalcino. The dinner will be prepared by the 3 Michelin Star restaurant, Da Vittorio, with its chef Enrico Cerea. The dinner will be devoted to collecting fund for charity activities within the territory of Montalcino.
Saturday the celebrations will end with another conference that will look at the future of Montalcino for the next 50 years, especially in terms of development in the international markets.
In the next days we will give you photo and video updates on these days of celebrations.
